🌮 Green Cabbage Slaw Tacos (Chicken, Fish, or Beef)

A crisp, tangy green cabbage slaw brings the crunch while your choice of protein keeps it hearty. Whether it’s pasture-raised chicken, line-caught fish, or grass-fed beef, these tacos are simple, fresh, and made for summer nights.

🛒 Ingredients

For the tacos

  • 1 lb pasture-raised chicken breast, grass-fed beef, or white fish (like cod or tilapia)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt + pepper to taste
  • Corn or flour tortillas

For the cabbage slaw

  • 3 cups shredded green cabbage
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp mayo or Greek yogurt
  • Salt to taste

Optional toppings

  • Pickled red onions
  • Avocado slices
  • Crumbled cotija or feta cheese
  • Hot sauce

🔪 Instructions

Season + Cook the Protein

Rub chicken, beef, or fish with olive oil, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.

  • Chicken: Grill or pan-sear 4–5 min per side until internal temp hits 165°F.
  • Beef: Use ground beef or steak strips, cooked until browned.
  • Fish: Cook 2–3 min per side, until just flaking.
  1. Make the Slaw
  2. Toss cabbage, cilantro, lime juice, vinegar, mayo (or yogurt), and salt. Let it sit 10 minutes while you prep everything else.
  3. Warm the Tortillas
  4. Heat tortillas over an open flame or in a dry skillet until soft and charred at the edges.
  5. Assemble the Tacos
  6. Layer tortillas with protein, generous cabbage slaw, and your favorite toppings.
  7. Serve
  8. Serve with a squeeze of fresh lime and a cold drink in hand. These tacos don’t last long.
