Warm Cinnamon Gala Apple Crisp

This warm cinnamon Gala apple crisp is a comforting dessert that combines tender baked apples with a crispy oat topping. Perfect for autumn evenings or any time you crave a sweet, homey treat.

Ingredients:

  • 4 large Gala apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

For the topping:

  • 3/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cubed

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced Gala apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch until evenly coated. Spread the apple mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add the cold butter cubes and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples.
  5. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown and crisp. Allow the crisp to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm, optionally topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
