Caramelized Gala Apple Tart

Caramelized Gala Apple Tart

This caramelized Gala apple tart is a decadent dessert featuring tender apple slices coated in buttery caramel, baked atop a flaky puff pastry crust. Perfect for impressing guests or treating yourself.

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 3 large Gala apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: powdered sugar for dusting, whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the puff pastry sheet onto the prepared baking sheet and lightly score a border about 1 inch from the edge. Prick the interior with a fork.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add granulated sugar and cook until it dissolves and begins to turn golden, stirring occasionally.
  4. Stir in cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Add the sliced Gala apples and cook for 3–4 minutes, coating them in the caramel until slightly softened.
  5. Arrange the caramelized apple slices evenly over the puff pastry within the scored border. Pour any remaining caramel sauce over the apples.
  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes until the pastry is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  7. Let the tart cool slightly, dust with powdered sugar if desired, and serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
